Caps sign Brandon Segal

The Washington Capitals have signed forward Brandon Segal to a one-year, two-way contract.

Segal appeared in one game for the New York Rangers last season and spent most of the campaign with the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Connecticut. He notched 24 goals and 20 assists for 44 points in 73 games with the Whale.

The 30-year-old British Columbia native has played 103 NHL games with Tampa Bay, Los Angeles, Dallas and the Rangers, compiling 11 goals and 11 assists with 85 penalty minutes.
