New York, NY – The American League has settled on its participants for the Home Run Derby, held annually the day before the All-Star Game.
Robinson Cano, the reigning champion of the event, selected the AL roster that will comprise of himself, 2009 Derby champ Prince Fielder of the Detroit Tigers, two-time reigning home run champ Jose Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Angels' Mark Trumbo.
On Sunday, the Dodgers' Matt Kemp picked fellow outfielders Carlos Beltran of the Cardinals, Carlos Gonzalez of the Rockies and Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins to fill out the National League participants.
The derby will be held a day before the All-Star Game next Monday, July 9, at Kansas City's Kauffman Stadium.
