Canada wins fourth straight gold at Ivan Hlinka with 4-1 victory over Sweden
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}BRECLAV, Czech Republic - Canada's under-18 men's hockey team won the gold medal for the fourth consecutive year after a 4-1 victory over Sweden at the Ivan Hlinka memorial tournament Saturday.
The victory was even sweeter for Canada after the Swedes hammered Canada 5-1 in the teams' first game at the tournament.
Canada opened the scoring when Sean Monahan beat Swedish goalie Oscar Danish midway through the first period on the power play.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Calle Anderson evened the score 13:06 into the second, but Scott Laughton restored the lead three minutes later and the teams headed into the second intermission with Canada up a goal.
Brendan Gaunce gave Canada a two-goal advantage 40 seconds into the third period, before Charles Hudon added a fourth on the power play.
