TURIN --

Juventus defender Martin Caceres will miss the rest of the season after tearing his Achilles tendon.

The 28-year-old Caceres was taken off the field in tears during Wednesday's 1-0 win over Genoa. The club says he will have an operation on Friday.

Caceres may have played his last game for Juventus, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

The Uruguay international has won four league titles and an Italian Cup since joining Juventus in January 2012, initially on loan from Sevilla. It was Caceres' second loan spell at Juventus, after spending the 2009-10 season in Turin.

Caceres also won a Spanish league title and the Champions League with Barcelona.
