Bynum won't play again this postseason

Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Indiana Pacers center Andrew Bynum will not play again during the playoffs because of a knee problem.

The Pacers made the announcement Wednesday before Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Washington Wizards.

Bynum has not appeared in a postseason game as he continues to battle soreness and swelling his right knee. His brief tenure with the Pacers, just two games in March, is also apparently over.

"We want to thank Andrew and our medical staff for trying to get the issues with his knee resolved," said Pacers president Larry Bird in a statement Wednesday. "We wish him the best in the future."

Bynum missed the entire 2012-13 season with Philadelphia because of knee problems and averaged 8.4 points with 5.3 rebounds in 24 games with Cleveland earlier this season before being traded to Chicago. He was dumped by the Bulls in a salary-saving move without playing a game and signed with Indianapolis on Feb. 1, but didn't appear in a game for more than a month.

However, the knee issues again flared up after just two games. He averaged 11.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in his limited action with Indiana.
