Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado was, as expected, placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, a day after fracturing his left middle finger.

Arenado suffered the injury during Friday's game against the Braves while sliding head-first on a close play at second base. He led off the second inning by hitting a line drive off the left-field wall and was nearly tagged out after a strong throw by Justin Upton.

Arenado stayed in to run, but Charlie Culberson took over at third base in the bottom of the second.

The 23-year-old set a club record with a 28-game hitting streak earlier this season and was batting .305 with six home runs, 28 RBI and 27 runs scored over 49 games.

To fill his place on the roster, the club recalled infielder Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
