CHARLESTON, S.C. – Eric Breitenstein rushed for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the second a 3-yard run with 1:09 remaining, as Wofford rallied to beat Charleston Southern 34-23 on Saturday.
Breitenstein also scored from 1 yard out with 5:59 left to give the Terriers (1-1) a 27-23 lead. He finished with 97 yards on 17 carries. Mike Rucker added 94 yards on seven carries, including a 76-yarder in the second quarter for a 10-7 lead. Wofford outrushed the Buccaneers 334 yards to 120 overall.
Charleston Southern took a 16-13 lead in the third quarter on a 27-yard halfback pass from Gerald Stevenson to Anthony Chalmers. After Wofford went ahead 20-16 on Brad Nocek's 26-yard run, the Buccaneers retook the lead, 23-20, on DeMarcus Moon's 1-yard fourth-quarter run.
Charleston Southern's A.J. Toscano completed 25 of 41 passes for 241 yards with one touchdown.
