Brazil's sports tribunal has fined second-division club ABC nearly $15,000 after overcrowded stands forced the delay of a match in Natal this month.
The tribunal said in its ruling late Wednesday that ABC failed to provide adequate conditions to fans in the match against Palmeiras on Oct. 5.
Children and women cried as they tried to get away from a crowd packed near one of the stadium's entrances. Fans climbed a fence and jumped onto the field to escape the overflow, delaying the match for more than 30 minutes. No serious injuries were reported.

The chaotic scene took place at Frasqueirao Stadium. World Cup matches in Natal will be played at the new Arena das Dunas.
