New York, NY – Atlanta Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons was named National League Rookie of the Month for the month of June.
Simmons batted .333 with three home runs and 14 runs batted in over 25 games after making his major league debut on June 2.
The 22-year-old hit safely in 17 of his first 25 contests and notched five multi-RBI games in his first month in the big leagues.
It marks the fifth consecutive season that a Braves player has won rookie honors.
Other players receiving votes included Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper, Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario, Arizona pitcher Wade Miley and Houston pitcher Dallas Keuchel.
