Flushing, NY – Atlanta Braves outfielder Jason Heyward departed Wednesday's 4-1, 10-inning victory in the top of the sixth inning after taking a pitch to the side of his face.
Heyward was drilled in the left cheek by Mets starter Jon Niese, with the ball ricocheting off Heyward's flap to prevent more serious damage.
He left the game under his own power, and was taken to a locak hospital for x-rays. Logan Schafer entered as a pinch runner.
