Bourque out 8-to-12 weeks after stomach surgery

The Montreal Canadiens announced on Wednesday that forward Rene Bourque is slated to be out of commission for 8-to-12 weeks following abdominal surgery.

The 30-year-old winger suffered the injury, a tear in the abdominal wall, during off-season training.

Bourque totaled five goals and eight points in 38 games with the Habs last season, after he was acquired from Calgary on January 12. For the season, the 30-year-old Alberta native posted 18 goals and 24 points in 76 contests.
