Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Botafogo picked up its third straight win in league play on Saturday, routing Goianiense 4-0 at the Estadio Olimpico with two goals on either side of halftime.
Clarence Seedorf opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Doria doubled the home side's advantage just before the break.
Botafogo blew the door wide open after the restart as Gabriel and Bruno scored in the 48th and 79th minutes, respectively.
Things went from bad to worse for visiting Goianiense in the 83rd minute when Diego was sent off.
The win lifts to Botafogo to 50 points on the season, good enough for sixth place in Brazil's top flight.
Goianiense suffers its third straight loss to remain at the foot of the Serie A table on 23 points.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Sao Paulo earned a 4-2 defeat at Sport Recife, Bahia and Gremio played to a 1-1 draw, Internacional came from behind to take a 2-1 win over Palmeiras, Corinthians edged Vasco da Gama 1-0 behind Jose Paolo Guerrero's strike in the 57th minute, and Figueirense played to a 0-0 draw with Portuguesa.
