Martin Petrov and David N'Gog scored one minute apart in the second half, just after Aston Villa opened the scoring, as Bolton took a step toward Premiership survival with a 2-1 win Tuesday.

Stephen Warnock opened the scoring in the 61st minute for Villa, but Petrov put his side level from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute and N'Gog followed with the game-winner in the 64th minute at Villa Park.

Bolton snapped a three-game winless streak and climbed from 19th to 18th in the standings. Bolton is just one point from safety, and has a game in hand.

Aston Villa lost for the fourth time during a seven-game winless streak, and is 15th and just three points above Bolton.
