While Bruce Bochy practically considers Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum family, Lincecum's roster spot was filled by a player who is an actual member of Bochy's family on Monday.

As San Francisco transferred Lincecum to the 60-day disabled list, it recalled reliever, Brett Bochy, the manager's 28-year-old son who was a September call-up last year as well.

"I'm very proud of him," Bochy said of his son. "He had another nice year in Sacramento. It's special, it is. I talked about it last year a lot and I don't want to overdo that. But it's special to have him up here. This helps make up for all those months you miss."

Bochy, who made three relief appearances for the Giants last season, had a solid season for Triple-A Sacramento this season, holding a 6-1 record with a 2.95 ERA in 58 innings over 43 games.

Despite a home run spoiling his major-league debut on Sept. 13, 2014, Bochy displayed potential in the limited period he was with the Giants last season.

The home run remains the only major-league hit he has surrendered, and he struck out two batters in a perfect inning in his most recent big-league outing on Sept. 28 of last year.
