Toronto, ON – Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Drew Hutchison left Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies after just nine pitches.
After retiring the first two batters, Hutchison hurt his right arm while pitching to Hunter Pence. The training staff raced onto the field after Hutchison threw a ball in the dirt.
Hutchison was removed from the game with right elbow soreness. He came into the game with a 5-3 mark and 4.66 ERA in 10 games this year.
Aaron Laffey, Carlos Villanueva, Jason Frasor, Darren Oliver and Casey Janssen also pitched for the Blue Jays, who won 3-0.
Earlier in the day, the Blue Jays placed pitcher Kyle Drabek on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow sprain. An MRI exam later Friday showed that Drabek has a torn ligament.
