Block-chynski: Arizona State's Bachynski has turned shot blocking into an art form

Being tall with long arms has given Jordan Bachynski an advantage in blocking shots.

Impeccable timing, good footwork and hard work have made the Arizona State center the best shot blocker in college basketball.

Heading into Friday's game against rival Arizona, Bachynski has 107 blocked shots, more than 264 teams in Division I and 14 behind the Pac-12 record he set as a junior last season.

Last week, Bachynski became the Pac-12's career blocks leader and got his second game-saving swat of the season by knocking away Oregon guard Joseph Young's layup attempt at the buzzer.

Bachynski also has worked hard on his offensive game, raising his averages to 12.2 points and 9.1 rebounds this season.
