Bernier voted MLS Player of the Week
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Patrice Bernier helped the Montreal Impact open its newly renovated stadium in style as he assisted on three goals in a 4-1 win over Seattle Sounders FC, earning him MLS Player of the Week honors.
The Impact was playing its first game at the Stade Saputo, and Bernier assisted on the first goal scored at the new ground, which was finished off by Felipe.
The 32-year-old tallied two more assists in the emphatic win, which was the most goals that Montreal has scored in MLS.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Bernier was playing in only his eighth game in MLS after moving to Montreal from Danish side Lyngby, but he did enough to grab his first MLS Player of the Week award.
The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, radio media.
