Bears release QB McCown in final roster cuts

Chicago Bears quarterback Josh McCown was among the final roster cuts made by the club on Friday.
McCown played in three games last season for the Bears and threw for 414 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. A third round selection in 2002, McCown has spent time with Arizona, Detroit, Oakland, Carolina and Chicago over his nine-year NFL career.
Chicago also acquired corner back Sherrick McManis from the Houston Texans in exchange for fullback Tyler Clutts.

Other roster casualties included the following players: running back Armando Allen, receivers Joe Anderson, Terriun Crump and Brittany Golden, tackle Cory Brandon, A.J. Greene, Greg McCoy and James Brown, cornerbacks Cornelius Brown and Isaiah Frey, guard Ricky Henry, safety Mark LeGree, defensive tackle Jordan Miller, tight end Brandon Venson, defensive end Aston Whiteside and linebacker Jabara Williams.
Chicago also terminated the contract of the following veteran players: linebacker Xavier Adibi, defensive end Chauncey Davis, receiver Rashied Davis, and defensive back Jonathan Wilhite. Defensive tackle Nate Collins was placed on the reserve/suspended list.
