Baylor freshman Miller declares for NBA Draft

Baylor freshman Quincy Miller will forgo his final three years of eligibility and declare for the 2012 NBA Draft, head coach Scott Drew announced Tuesday.

Miller had announced his intention to remain at the university two weeks earlier at a non-conference baseball game at Baylor Ballpark but the 2012 Big 12 Co-Freshman of the year had a change of heart.

"In the days following his initial announcement to return to Baylor for his sophomore season," Drew said in a statement, "we were able to gather more information and Quincy was able to reflect on his decision with his family.

"After receiving the full support of the coaching staff, Quincy thought it was in his and his family's best interest to declare for the 2012 NBA Draft," Drew continued. "Baylor Nation thanks Quincy for providing us with an outstanding season to remember and we will miss his out-going personality."

Miller averaged 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds, helping the Bears to a school- record 30 wins and a trip to the NCAA Elite Eight in his only season at Baylor.

The Chicago native joins teammate Perry Jones III, who declared for the NBA Draft earlier this month.
