TORONTO – Blue Jays star Jose Bautista is out of the lineup because of a personal matter and could miss the entire three-game series against Oakland.
The team said Bautista likely will return Friday for the opener of a three-game road series against the Los Angeles Angels. The team did not detail the reason for Bautista's absence.
Bautista led the majors with 54 home runs last season. He's off to a good start this year, hitting .455 with two homers in Toronto's season-opening series against Minnesota last week.
Toronto center fielder Rajai Davis returned to the lineup Tuesday night after missing two games with an injured right ankle.
