Manchester City grabbed a goal deep into second-half stoppage time to keep the pressure on first-place Manchester United with a 1-0 defeat of Reading at the Etihad on Saturday.

The two sides appeared to be heading for a scoreless draw, but City snatched three points thanks to an unlikely source.

Gareth Barry popped up in the third minute of stoppage time, heading home David Silva's delivery from the center of the penalty area.

The win sees the Citizens climb to 39 points to move to within three points of Manchester United, which faces Swansea City on Sunday.

Reading remains bottom of the table, suffering its seventh straight league loss to stay put on nine points.

Everton 2, West Ham 1

London, England - Everton fell behind early but stormed back to earn a 2-1 victory over West Ham at Upton Park on Saturday.

Carlton Cole had given the Hammers the lead in the 13th minute, but Victor Anichebe leveled the score in the 63rd minute.

Cole was sent off for a high boot four minutes later, and the Toffees took advantage of the extra man as Steven Pienaar bagged the game-winner in 73rd minute. Darron Gibson was sent off for Everton in stoppage time to put a damper on the victory.

Everton moves into fourth place with 30 points while West Ham, winless in its last three league outings, remains on 23 points.

Arsenal 1, Wigan 0

Wigan, England - Arsenal claimed a third straight Premier League win on Saturday, edging Wigan 1-0 at the DW Stadium.

The Gunners were held by a stout Latics defense until the hour mark when Mikel Arteta converted a penalty to lift Arsene Wenger's side to 30 points on the season.

Wigan remains in the relegation zone on 15 points, suffering its second successive defeat.

Liverpool 4, Fulham 0

Liverpool, England - Liverpool cruised to a 4-0 defeat of Fulham at Anfield on Saturday, scoring twice on either side of halftime.

Martin Skrtel and Steven Gerrard put the Reds in front before the break while Stewart Downing and Luis Suarez extended their lead in the second period.

Liverpool moves into the top-half of the table, improving to 25 points. Fulham has two straight to remain on 20 points.

West Bromwich 2, Norwich City 1

West Bromwich, England - West Bromwich snapped a four-game winless streak in Premier League play on Saturday, coming from behind in a 2-1 defeat of Norwich City at the Hawthorns.

Robert Snodgrass had giving the visiting Canaries the lead in the 22nd minute, but the Baggies answered through Zoltan Gera in the 43rd and Romelu Lukaku eight minutes from time to end Norwich's three-game winning run.

West Bromwich moves level with Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton on 30 points apiece while Norwich stays put on 25 points.

Sunderland 1, Southampton 0

Southampton, England - Sunderland secured its second win from its last three matches, defeating Southampton 1-0 at St. Mary's on Saturday.

Steven Fletcher continued his fine run of form, recording the lone goal for his eighth striker of the Premier League season.

Sunderland pulls four points away from both the relegation zone and Southampton, improving to 19 points through 18 games.

Newcastle 1, QPR 0

Newcastle, England - Newcastle looks as if its back on the right track after Shola Ameobi scored the lone goal in the club's 1-0 defeat of QPR at Sports Direct Arena on Saturday.

Ameobi scored nine minutes from time to help the Magpies secure a second win from its last four league games. They improve to 20 points on the season.

QPR had pieced together an impressive stretch under new boss Harry Redknapp, taking six points from a four-game unbeaten streak. That run comes to an end as the club stays put on 10 points.

Tottenham 0, Stoke City 0

London, England - Tottenham and Stoke City failed to produce a goal as the two sides played to a 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Spurs improve to 30 points to go level with Everton, Arsenal and West Bromwich while Stoke City's three straight draws lift the club to 25 points.
