The Tennessee Titans waived 16 players on Friday to get down to the NFL's mandatory 53-man roster limit while placing five others on injured reserve, including veteran defensive ends Dave Ball and Leger Douzable.
Ball, a 19-game starter for the Titans over the past two seasons, has been battling recurring concussion symptoms throughout training camp and missed two games last year with similar issues. The seven-year veteran produced 36 tackles and four sacks in 14 games (8 starts) in 2011 and netted a career-best seven sacks while making 11 starts the previous year.
Douzable, signed as a free agent during the offseason, was dealing with a shoulder problem. The journeyman lineman compiled 38 tackles and one sack in 16 games, starting six, with Jacksonville a year ago.
