AZ Alkmaar doubles up on Twente
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Enschede, Netherlands (SportsNetwork.com) - AZ Alkmaar took over fourth place in the Eredivisie on Sunday with goals from Wesley Hoedt and Aron Johannsson in a 2-0 win at Twente.
Hoedt got the scoring started in the 10th minute with a clever overhead kick that eluded the reach of Twente goalkeeper Nick Marsman.
Johannsson then made it 2-0 in the 35th when Mattias Johansson cut the ball back for the American international to fire past Marsman from close range.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The home side managed little in the way of chances going forward, and they failed to take advantage of playing the final 20 minutes a man up after AZ's Nemanja Gudej received a second yellow card for kicking out at Twente's Jesus Corona.
AZ moves to within three points of third-place Feyenoord with two games to play, while Twente drops to 12th.
Second-place Ajax needed a goal in the 89th minute from Kolbeinn Sigthorsson to rescue a 1-1 draw at Zwolle, last-place Dordrecht and Cambuur battled to a 0-0 draw, while Feyenoord was held to a 1-1 deadlock at Groningen as the two sides traded goals in the opening half.
