CINCINNATI – The Atlantic 10 is having a strong season, buoyed by the additions of Butler and VCU as the conference changes membership.
It's also waiting to see whether some of its top schools will be lured away by realignment.
The A-10 has 10 schools in the RPI's top 90, with Butler ranked No. 9 in the latest AP poll on Monday. Virginia Commonwealth and La Salle also got votes.
Commissioner Bernadette McGlade says the league is in a position of strength, even with uncertainty over realignment. Temple and Charlotte are planning to leave after this season, and seven teams from the Big East are breaking away to form a basketball league that could be enticing to A-10 teams.
