Omar Carter scored 22 points and Appalachian State defeated Chattanooga 78-68 on Saturday night for its fourth straight win.

The teams combined for 54 3-point attempts, but the Mountaineers were more accurate, making 40 percent (10 of 25). The Mocs made only 27.6 percent (8 of 29) from 3-point range.

The Mountaineers also hit 49.1 percent (27 of 55) from the field.

Donald Sims added 19 points and Petey Hausley had 12 for the Mountaineers (12-13, 8-7 Southern Conference).

Ricky Taylor scored 21 points, Chris Early had 12 and DeAntre Jefferson had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Mocs (14-13, 10-5), who lost their third consecutive game.

The game was tied 45-45 with 12:25 to play, but the Mountaineers went on a 17-2 run for a 62-47 advantage after a 3-pointer by Carter with 9:09 left. The lead remained in double digits the rest of the way.
