AP Source: Kings agree to terms with coach Dave Joerger

A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that the Sacramento Kings have agreed to terms with Dave Joerger on a three-year deal to make him their new coach.

The Kings and Joerger settled the deal Monday, just two days after Joerger was fired in Memphis. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has yet to announce the agreement. The deal includes a team option for a fourth season.

Joerger went 147-99 in three seasons with the Grizzlies and took them to the playoffs each year.

He quickly found a landing place in Sacramento, where the Kings have struggled to find coaching stability under owner Vivek Ranadive. Joerger replaces George Karl and becomes the Kings' seventh head coach in the last five years.
