The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim selected the hander Garrett Richards from Double-A Arkansas to start Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees.
Richards will become the first Angel pitcher to make his major league debut in the Bronx since Jason Dickson in 1996.
The 23-year-old made 21 starts for the Travelers this season, posting a 12-2 record with three complete games. Richards was leading the Texas League in wins at the time of his promotion, while ranking second with a 3.06 earned run average.
