MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Sharif Adamu scored 12 points and Alabama State defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 60-48 on Saturday night.
The win was just the second in the past seven games for the Hornets (7-16, 4-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who ended a two-game losing streak.
The Hornets made 13 of 23 field goal attempts in the first half en route to a 30-22 halftime lead, and shot 44.7 percent (21 of 47) for the game.
The Hornets made 10 steals and forced the Golden Lions into 16 turnovers. Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which scored fewer than 50 points for the sixth time this season, shot just 31.8 percent from the field (14 of 44).
Kaylim Noel was the only other player in double figures for the Hornets with 10 points.
Allen Smith, who was 4 of 6 from 3-point range and made all six of his free throw attempts, led the Golden Lions (4-18, 4-6) with 22 points.
