Tramaine Butler scored a career-high 27 points to lead Alabama State over Alcorn State 81-68 on Monday night.

One game after going 0 for 5 from the field against Southern on Saturday, Butler was 11 of 17 against the Braves, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range for the most points by any Alabama State player this season.

The Hornets (6-14, 3-4 Southwest Athletic Conference) led 40-33 at halftime and scored the first six points of the second half to pull away.

The Hornets shot 43.5 percent from the field in the game (30 of 69).

Robert Sanders had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Tramayne Moorer chipped in 12 points for Alabama State, which snapped a three-game losing streak.

Alcorn State was led by SWAC scoring leader Marquiz Baker (16.6 points per game), who had 23 points. Jamar Ragland added 11 and Kendrick McDonald 10 for the Braves (1-17, 1-7).
