A.J. Burnett walks in two runs in Pirates' 5-0 loss to Phillies
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A.J. Burnett walked in a pair of runs in Philadelphia's four-run second inning Monday as the Phillies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0 Monday.
Burnett lasted just 1 1-3 inning of a scheduled three because of a high pitch count. The Pirates' opening-day starter allowed four runs, four hits and struck out two.
Phillies fifth starter John Lannan and four relievers combined on a one-hitter. Lannan gave up the Pirates' only hit, a two-out double by Travis Snider in the first, and walked two during three scoreless innings.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Michael Young had two hits and two RBIs for Philadelphia. Ben Revere and Yuniesky Betancourt also had two hits.
Left-hander Wandy Rodriguez, the Pirates' No. 2 starter, pitched three scoreless innings. He then departed to join the Dominican Republic team for first-round pool play in the World Baseball Classic.
