If Shaquille O'Neal goes one-on-one with New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, they might have to take to the court at a cool spread just outside Atlanta, where Shaq recently scored a 14-acre, two-house compound for $1.5 million.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the basketball great picked up an estate in McDonough, GA, about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta. The property includes two homes totaling 7,400 square feet, eight bedrooms, and 10 bathrooms; and a three-stall barn with an attached workshop.
The larger house, built in 2008, features five bedrooms, two-story foyer, 12-seat home theater, and gym. The smaller home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an attached Florida room. In Los Angeles, where Shaq starred for nearly a decade with the Lakers, $1.5 million would have covered only the cost of the smaller home, making Georgia a great place for a compound.
And this isn't the future Hall of Famer's first go-round in Georgia. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says he's been a part-time Atlantan for 15 years, owning a condo in Buckhead and a 6-acre farm in Gwinnett County.
Back to the proposed heads-up match between the football player and the basketball great. Gronk issued the Twitter challenge on May 24 after "Inside the NBA" studio host Ernie Johnson shockingly beat NBA All-Star (and co-host) Charles Barkley in a three-point contest.
Gronkowski tweeted:
