A distressed Hillary Clinton voter had a happy moment this week when she ran into the defeated Democratic nominee while on a walk through the woods near Clinton's New York home.

Margot Gerster wrote on Facebook that she was "heartbroken" about Clinton's defeat by Republican nominee Donald Trump in Tuesday's election and decided to take her daughter Phoebe for a stroll to clear her head.

"As we were leaving, I heard a bit of rustling coming towards me and as I stepped into the clearing there she was, Hillary Clinton and Bill with their dogs doing exactly the same thing as I was," Gerster said.

" I got to hug her and talk to her and tell her that one of my most proudest moments as a mother was taking Phoebe with me to vote for her," the post continued.

Clinton then posed for a picture which, Gerster confirmed to a Facebook commenter, was taken by the 42nd President.

"I do wish I'd asked [the Secret Service] to take one so he could be in it," she said.
