At 3:30 p.m. EDT, all 100 U.S. senators have been asked to be in their assigned seats in the august chamber to vote on a resolution honoring those who participated in the successful mission to kill to al Qaeda militant Usama bin Laden, a rare display of unity in a chamber often beset with partisanship.
The resolution, as obtained by Fox News, a joint effort by Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and GOP Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, states simply, "A resolution honoring the members of the military and intelligence community who carried out the mission that killed Osama bin Laden, and for other purposes."
Each member will vote from his or her seat, standing to announce an "aye" or "nay" as the clerk reads out all 100 names in alphabetical order.
