Sarah Palin will guest co-host NBC's "Today" show on Tuesday, signaling a new intensity in the morning show ratings war.
In a statement posted on its website, "Today" promised that the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate will "reveal a different side of her than you've seen before."
The announcement comes after it was revealed that former "Today" host Katie Couric will fill in for Robin Roberts as co-host of ABC's rival morning show, "Good Morning America" this week.
The ratings battle between the two morning shows has recently ramped up, with "Good Morning America" gaining in popularity against its historically dominant rival.
"Today" has also announced that a "surprise legend" will return to the show on Monday.
Other high-profile guests appearing on "Today" this week are "Octomom" Nadya Suleman, Kim Kardashian, the Duggar family and rapper Nicki Minaj.
Palin is a contributor to Fox News Channel.
