Noem Wins South Dakota's GOP Primary for U.S. House Seat

PIERRE, S.D. -- State Rep. Kristi Noem of Castlewood has won the Republican primary to become the party's candidate for South Dakota's lone seat in the U.S. House.

With 92 percent of the precincts reporting, Noem had more than 41 percent of the vote, while Secretary of State Chris Nelson had more than 35 percent.

State Rep. Blake Curd of Sioux Falls was third with 23 percent.

Noem now will face Democratic Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin in the November election. The congresswoman was unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
