At a House Transportation and Infrastructure hearing Thursday morning, committee chairman John Mica, R-Fla., proposed privatizing AMTRAK's Northeast corridor.

Mica would like to privatize the route from Washington, through Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and up to Boston.

He says private investors could provide better service.

AMTRAK is federally funded and bleeds money. Many of its routes are not popular. But the Northeast corridor is heavily traveled.
