WASHINGTON – The latest Republican presidential candidate, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, is planning to meet with the GOP's most recent nominee, Mitt Romney.
A spokesman for Kasich says he will have lunch Thursday at Romney's lakeside vacation home in New Hampshire.
Spokesman Chris Schrimpf says Romney extended the invitation after learning Kasich would be campaigning near Romney's home. The Ohio governor is in the midst of his announcement tour, which began Wednesday in New Hampshire.
Kasich will become the third Republican presidential contender to spend private time this month with the former presidential nominee.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio visited Romney's vacation home over the July 4 holiday.
Romney has not said whether he will endorse a candidate in the race.
