Kagan on Capitol Hill

Elena Kagan started meeting with senators at the Capitol on Wednesday. Republicans are warning that a lack of candor could be detrimental to her getting bipartisan approval. (AP)

Kagan herself argued for a more stringent questioning of Supreme Court nominees in 1995, words she can expect to hear thrown back at her by senators. (AP).

Kagan's relative inexperience in judicial matters may pose a problem for the Supreme Court hopeful.  Some have expressed concern over her record, or lack thereof.  "Given that Ms. Kagan does not have a judicial record, it will be especially important for senators to inquire as to her views on the Constitution and the role of the court," said Sen. John Thune, R-S.D. (AP)
