Cruz denies report on presidential campaign plans

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is aggressively knocking down a report that suggests he's in the final stages of preparing for a presidential campaign announcement.
The report, in the National Journal, cited "sources close to" Cruz in claiming the Republican senator could be preparing to make an announcement by the end of the year.
But Cruz challenged the report on social media, saying he hasn't made "any decisions about political plans" past the November midterms.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"Clearly we have an overzealous supporter out there making freelance comments, but to be clear, no decision has been made. Whoever this 'anonymous advisor' was, he or she had no authority to speak, and doesn't know what they're talking about," Cruz said on Facebook.
The report comes after Cruz won the informal straw poll at the Values Voter Summit -- a gathering of socially conservative activists -- for the second year in a row. He often is talked about as a likely Republican candidate for president in 2016.
The National Journal piece claimed Cruz was "cultivating" a foreign policy portfolio in advance of a possible campaign announcement.
