Almost daily, the Democrats trip over their own extremism – and they’re the only ones who haven’t figured it out yet. Day after day, they choose to lean into their radical agenda, embrace it, and follow it blindly, no matter how miscalculated, misguided or out of touch it is. It’s benefiting President Trump and making the Democrats look ridiculous.
Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., stepped into the 2020 presidential race with the idea of getting rid of all private insurance. She wasn’t even pretending you could keep your plan if you like it. Her spin cycle went into hyperdrive as she got pushback, and her adviser said she’d be open to more moderate health reform plans.
It’s probably a good bet that she’s still running on free stuff for everyone – I mean “Medicare-for-all” – but her position will likely vary based on the crowd she addresses.
Last week, Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s, D-Mass., registration card for the Texas state bar surfaced, revealing that she had documented her race as American Indian, which she does not deny. She’s long been criticized for claiming to be part Native American as a way to advance her career, even though her recent, embarrassing DNA test found that she may be only 1/1024 Native American.
No matter, there’s no shame in her game. She’s still running for president.
Details of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s, D-N.Y., extreme “Green New Deal” came out with a bang a few days ago when it was posted to her website and pitched to the media. However, after receiving pushback because it included guaranteed economic security for people who don’t want to work, her staff went into damage control mode.
The cleanup was as messy as the rollout. It didn’t end well.
Firs,t they blamed conservatives for shopping around a document that had been altered. When people didn’t buy that it was a right-wing conspiracy, Ocasio-Cortez’s staff took ownership of it but said it was just a first draft. Everyone gives the first draft of a bill to the media, right?
For the record, Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t need any help from conservatives to make her look bad. She’s doing just fine on her own. All we have to do is sit back and watch.
Als,o this weekend, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., drew criticism from for her anti-Semitic tweet accusing the American Israel Public Affairs Committee of paying off representatives in Congress to support Israel. Her comments were even too extreme for some Democrats, including Chelsea Clinton and Rep. Max Rose, D-N.Y. Even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., denounced her.
Amid the backlash, Omar apologized, but walked the line, tweeting that she’s “listening and learning but standing strong.” In her apology she renewed her criticism of AIPAC in politics, and as of this writing her original offensive tweet has not been taken down.
In the wake of Virginia Democratic Governor Ralph Northam’s racist yearbook photo, all national Democrats and Virginia Democrats have called on him to resign. But instead of resigning, his staff is making him read Alex Haley’s novel “Roots” and Ta-Nehisi Coates’ essay “The Case for Reparations,” to become more racially sensitive or something.
In a bizarre interview with CBS’s Gayle King (does the governor have an appearance that’s not bizarre these days?) he immediately, and inexplicably, went right to slavery in answering her opening softball question, and actually called slaves "indentured servants."
He should probably keep reading.
Northam told King, "Virginia needs someone that can heal. There's no better person to do that than a doctor. Virginia also needs someone who is strong, who has empathy, who has courage, and who has a moral compass.”
Did the doctor who tried to justify infanticide just tell us that we need his moral compass? Who lets this guy get in front of a camera?
Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring who admitted to dressing in blackface is also not resigning, even though he called on Northam to resign.
It could very well end up that Justin Fairfax – Virginia’s Democratic African-American Lieutenant Governor facing sexual assault allegations – is the one who gets booted out of office, and the two clowns with the racist pasts get to stay. How’s that for irony? Great look, Virginia.
It’s important to remember that everything that's happened in Virginia, every domino that's fallen, began with the extremism of the late-term abortion bill that was recently signed into law in New York and proposed in Virginia.
Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran’s, D-Fairfax, abortion bill was so extreme that once it was exposed, one of her liberal co-sponsors removed her name from sponsorship. It’s noteworthy that even after Tran did her own damage control video, her colleague stayed off the bill. Translation: Even her own former co-sponsor isn’t buying the spin.
Tran’s extreme bill set in motion a domino effect that led to the governor floating the idea of infanticide, which led to his yearbook photo being released, etc. One by one the state’s leaders were exposed. The Jenga tower tumbled and left the capitol in chaos.
