Gretchen's Take: Is Washington incapable of doing investigations? IRS case in point

When the IRS targeting scandal first broke, President Obama said he would do everything in his power to get to the bottom of it and provide the American public with all the answers.

Then Lois Lerner's emails conveniently were deleted and back ups were never asked for. The president then told our own Bill O'Reilly during a Superbowl interview last year there was no targeting of conservative tea party groups - and that there was "not even a smidgen" of corruption with the IRS. On the Daily Show taped last week, the President said the "truth of the matter is that there was not some big conspiracy".

So will we ever know what really happened? And after so many hearings and so much time passed -- will anyone ever be held accountable? We all know Washington isn't good at actually getting things done. But now we're also finding out Washington can't really do investigations either.
