Tuesday on “The Real Story” we heard from three L'Oreal Paris Women of Worth nominees. These are three women who are making a difference in their communities and, in the process, are bettering the lives of others.

They are living proof of one of life's greatest lessons -- which is giving back.

It's an especially important message today because Tuesday happens to be #Giving Tuesday -- a day to be thankful for what you have in your life and to give something back to help others.

I was fortunate to grow up in a family that believed wholeheartedly in giving back. It's a philosophy my husband and I are living and passing on to our two children.

The last chapter in my book "Getting Real" is entitled "To Whom Much is Given, Much is Expected." And whether that's great or small -- in an ever-expanding culture of entitlement -- it's so important to teach our young people the great #GivingTuesday message: By giving to others they actually end up as the winners.
