With President Trump’s announcement Friday of his veto of the congressional resolution blocking the Border Emergency declaration, our president continues to stand strong on the United States’ border security crisis despite ongoing efforts from Democrats to halt the action.
In the wake of this veto, many of his critics and members of the mainstream media continue to lose their minds over what they perceive as the president’s abuse of power. Yet, a little over two years into the presidency, Friday marks the first time that he has ever used his veto power. To say that this presidential action goes too far is more of the same rhetoric we have heard before from the left.
History tells us that the president is nowhere close to exceeding his use of veto power to exert his legal authority – one that the American people elected to lead their country. Former President Obama used 12 vetoes, Bill Clinton used vetoes 37 times, and Reagan vetoed 78 times just to name a few examples. It is clear that when President Trump makes a decision to use his veto power, he is choosing to do so only when it’s a worthwhile cause and because he must believe in the importance of it to protect our national interests. He was elected because of the drive to protect our borders and is not going to let anything stand in our way.
DEMOCRATS WHO SAY THERE IS NO THREAT OF TERRORISTS CROSSING OUR BORDER ARE DELUSIONAL
The truth is, the president was well within his legal authority when he declared a national emergency – immigrants entering into the United States without following legal immigration laws is unlawful and amplifies the economic, political, and social detriment to the America people – this border crisis simply cannot be ignored.
Illegal immigration is a serious and rising threat to our democracy.
Recent statistics from the Department of Homeland Security don’t lie and they show that more than 2,000 illegal immigrants are apprehended daily along our southern border, and more than 268,000 individuals have been apprehended by border patrol since the beginning of the fiscal year. That represents a 97 percent increase from the previous year.

On top of that, just this February, more than 76,000 illegal aliens were apprehended or deemed inadmissible at a port of entry, representing a staggering 12 year high. Ninety percent of all heroin comes from across our border, thousands of kids are sex trafficked, and illegals cost us, taxpayers, billions a year. In fact, illegal immigration costs tax taxpayers a staggering $134.9 billion a year while contributing only $19 billion in state, federal, and local taxes. Those numbers coupled with recent videos released showing the overwhelming rush to penetrate our borders are hard to refute.
The Democrats have made countless efforts to stop our president from moving forward but what they refuse to admit is that proving their petty hatred for the president now outweighs their efforts to ensure our national security. This president won’t have it, and the American people shouldn’t stand for it.
