Former MSNBC host and leftist anti-Trump critic Keith Olbermann rushed to defend President Joe Biden on Twitter after Biden became embroiled in a classified documents scandal.
"We’re really going to do this again? We’re really going to do Hillary Clinton’s emails again? We’re really going to do whataboutism and both sides-ism again?" Olbermann asked in a video he posted on the social media platform.
Olbermann targeted CNN, CBS News, NBC News, The Washington Post and The New York Times for reporting on a newly revealed investigation into Biden's alleged mishandling of classified documents.
The episode reminded many commentators on Twitter of similar accusations made against former President Donald Trump that were used to justify the raid on his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
"We’re really going to do Hillary Clinton’s emails again with this Biden story?" Olbermann repeated.
"The hell we are," Olbermann said, answering his own question.
Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was criticized for using her personal email account to handle highly classified communications, especially in verbal battles with Trump on the debate stage in 2016.
She claimed in 2022 that she had "zero emails that were classified," directly contradicting multiple government reports.

But Olbermann defended Biden in a tweet, comparing Trump to an infamous serial killer who murdered at least five women in nineteenth-century London.
"A Swiss Army Knife is the same as Jack The Ripper's Murder Weapon?" he asked.
"We are not letting them do the Hillary Clinton email story again," Olbermann declared.
The former MSNBC host also spoke at length about the Biden document scandal on his podcast, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann."
The title of the podcast was "WE’RE REALLY GOING TO DO HILLARY’S EMAILS AGAIN?"
"So we’re doing Hillary’s emails again, huh, New York Times? So we’re going to claim shoplifting and armed robbery with murder is the same thing again, eh, Washington Post?" Olbermann said on his podcast.

But even Olbermann conceded that the story was newsworthy.
He called the Biden documents scandal a "legitimate, albeit likely to be obscure story," headlined, "US Attorney reviewing documents marked classified from Joe Biden’s vice presidency found at Biden think tank."
CBS News broke the Biden documents fiasco, igniting a firestorm on the internet as right and left pundits battled over the revelations that it was under investigation.
Biden slammed former President Trump in Sept. 2022 for his 'irresponsible' handling of classified documents on "60 Minutes."
