Suspect in second Trump assassination attempt identified

The suspect in the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump has been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, law enforcement sources confirmed to Fox News.

Routh was allegedly armed with an assault rifle outside Trump International Golf Club while Trump was playing the fifth hole on Sunday afternoon.

He was able to push the muzzle of his gun through the chainlink fence outside the golf club, authorities said.

He was 300 to 500 yards away from Trump. Secret Service spotted Routh and opened fire.

Routh was able to get way, but was later stopped by authorities and arrested.He was found with two backpacks and a GoPro camera.The rifle was recovered from the bushes outside the golf course.

This is the second attempt made on Trump's life in two months.

Trump assassination attempt task force requests briefing with Secret Service after 2nd attempt

The task force on the attempted assassination of Donald Trump said Sunday it is monitoring what authorities confirm was a second assassination attempt on the Republican presidential candidate and have requested a briefing with the U.S. Secret Service.

Chairman Mike Kelly, R-Pa., and Jason Crow, D-Colo., released a joint statement Sunday following a shooting the FBI is investigating.

"The Task Force is monitoring this attempted assassination of former President Trump in West Palm Beach this afternoon,” the joint statement said. “We have requested a briefing with the U.S. Secret Service about what happened and how security responded. We are thankful that the former President was not harmed, but remain deeply concerned about political violence and condemn it in all of its forms. The Task Force will share updates as we learn more."

Tim Walz says ‘violence has no place’ in US after 2nd assassination attempt on Trump

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Sunday weighed in after the second assassination attempt on former President Trump.

“Gwen and I are glad to hear that Donald Trump is safe,” Walz wrote on X. “Violence has no place in our country. It’s not who we are as a nation.”

U.S. Secret Service agents opened fire after seeing a person with a firearm near Trump’s West Palm Beach golf club in Florida while the Republican presidential candidate was golfing. No injuries were reported. Officials say the person fled in an SUV and was later apprehended by local law enforcement.

Sunday’s incident marked the second assassination attempt on the Republican presidential candidate in two months.

Sheriff’s deputies show photo of backpacks, AK-47 along fence of Trump golf course

Sheriff’s deputies on Sunday shared a photo showing an AK-47 and backpacks propped up along the fence at the Trump International Golf Club following another assassination attempt on former President Trump.

Palm Beach County Ric Bradshaw held up the photos during an afternoon press conference, saying that the backpacks contained ceramic tile and a GoPro.

Authorities have arrested Ryan Wesley Routh.

A Secret Service agent walking on the golf course a hole ahead of where Trump was playing spotted the rifle sticking out of the fence and immediately opened fire, Bradshaw said.

The agent fired four to six rounds, a Secret Service official said and the suspect then fled.

A witness who took a picture of the suspect’s vehicle and license plate number provided it to law enforcement officers.

Lawmakers, family react after learning Trump safe following second assassination attempt

News that former President Trump was safe after a second assassination attempt happened at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach had lawmakers, family and others reacting.

The shots were later determined to have been fired by Secret Service agents at a man who was carrying an AK-47 in what the FBI said appears to have been an assassination attempt. Trump was playing the club's fifth hole, when the shots rang out and Secret Service agents rushed him to safety. Steven Cheung from the Trump Campaign communications team issued a statement after the event.

"President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time," Cheung said.

Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., responded, saying, "Again folks!" It was a grim allusion to the attempted assassination of Trump July 13 at a rally in Butler, Pa.

Authorities are investigating a second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Around 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, while the president was playing the fifth hole, a man was able to push the muzzle of his gun through a chain link fence.

Secret Service spotted the man and fired shots at him. The gunman was 300 to 500 yards away from Trump, authorities said.

The man was able to get way, but was later stopped by authorities and arrested.

He was found with two backpacks and a GoPro camera.

The rifle was recovered from the bushes outside the golf course.

Trump was unharmed. The FBI said the incident "appears to be an attempted assassination.

Suspect vehicle pulled over after second assassination attempt on Trump

Photos released by the Martin County Sheriff's Office show a stopped vehicle on I-95 moments after shots were fired in the vicinity of the Trump International Golf Club where the former president was playing.

Martin County Sheriff William D. Snyder said the suspect was apprehended within minutes of the FBI, Secret Service and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office putting out a “very urgent BOLO” — or “be on the lookout” alert detailing the specific vehicle sought, license plate number and occupant description.

Snyder said his deputies “immediately flooded” northbound I-95, deploying to every exit between the Palm Beach County line to the south and St. Lucie County line to the north.

FBI responds to West Palm Beach Florida after another assassination attempt on Trump

The FBI says it responded to West Palm Beach, Florida, and is investigating what appears to be a second assassination attempt on former President Trump at Trump International Golf Club Sunday afternoon.

Authorities are treating the case as a potential assassination attempt, and arrested a suspect, a U.S. official told Fox News. The man, who was not immediately identified, was allegedly armed with a rifle when agents fired at him.

The incident comes approximately two months after an assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
