Travis Scott not knowing ‘severity of the situation’ at Astroworld attended after party

Travis Scott left Astroworld Friday evening and went straight to an after party at Dave & Busters hosted by Drake, according to a new report.

TMZ reports that both artists were, at the time, unaware of the festival tragedy.

A source also told Fox News on Tuesday: “Travis didn't know the severity of the situation when he arrived at the party, as far as timing, this remains consistent with the fact that no one including the police had publicly confirmed the gravity of the events that had taken place.”

Per the outlet, Scott immediately left the after party after he was informed about the tragedy.

A reported crowd surge during the concert led to the deaths of eight attendees and left others injured. Scott was performing on stage during the incident and has since faced criticism for allowing the show to continue while people needed help in the crowd.

Fox News has reached out to reps for Drake and Scott for comment.

Fox News' Lauryn Overhultz and Nate Day contributed to this report.

Attorney representing victims of Travis Scott's Astroworld Festival suing for millions

Attorney Rick Ramos stated that he is representing at least 10 victims, one of them among the eight deceased, who attended the Astroworld Festival and were harmed during Travis Scott's performance.

He noted at the top of the press conference that he is hoping to get his clients the medical help they need, including dealing with the trauma they experienced from the event.

"They were subjected to witnessing dead bodies, dead right in front of them, could not be resuscitated, bodies that were turned purple right in front of their eyes, witnessed their friends be crushed by barricades, witnessed their bothers and sisters being stomped on," he said.

Later in the press conference, he noted that "this case is more than money," stating that his goal is the emotional wellbeing of the children affected as well as holding Scott accountable.

Attorney blames Travis Scott for not seeing Astroworld tragedy coming, pumping up the deadly crowd

Attorney Rick Ramos held a press conference on Tuesday announcing a lawsuit on behalf of the young victims who were injured or killed during Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival concert on Nov. 5.

He noted that the rapper had previously faced criticism at the very same show in the same venue in 2019 that led to three people being hospitalized. He believes that alone means Scott could have foreseen the tragedy coming and that more appropriate measures should have been put in place.

“Back in 2019 at the same premises, the same event, the same artist,” he said. “A very similar  situation occurred. Not very similar, it was the same. A crowd went ahead and stormed the barricades. A crowd went into the venue, security couldn't’ stop it. There was criminal activity that took place.”

Ramos also said alleged that Scott poured “gasoline” on the raging fire that was the crowd, encouraging them to get rowdier even as he “saw bodies floating in the crowd, lifeless.”

“He continued on with the show. As more and more bodies were dropping, he turned to the crowd and got them more energized, more pumped up.”

Ramos counter's Scott's previous claims that he was unaware of the severity of the situation in the crowd from the stage.

He added: "Essentially, he enticed this crowd and turned it into an absolute mob, while they were hurting one another."

Houston Police Chief describes Astroworld first response during appearance on 'America's Newsroom'

Houston Fire Chief Samuel Pena appeared on “America’s Newsroom” on Tuesday where he discussed what is currently known about how crowd control at the event broke down so completely.

He discussed a safety plan that was in place in which the Houston Fire Department was not a part of.

“It’s important to understand that this venue is on county property. It’s a county-sanctioned event. The promoter was the one that was in charge of developing that emergency operations plan,” Pena explained. “In that plan, they hired private security and a private medical component to provide service for that event. It listed the chain of command, in essence, for who would be making certain calls.”

Pena noted that, although it wasn’t the fire department’s job, he made the call to lend additional support to the event, which came in handy once things got out of hand.

“As soon as the incident commander determined that the incident was escalating, he was able to request additional resources and pre-deploy them to respond,” Pena explained.

He added: “I don’t know at what point the plan… fell apart, or the emergency operations plan or who made what call. What we do know now is the actions that the Houston Fire Department took and we are fully participating with this investigation.”

Calls mount for Travis Scott to be removed from Coachella lineup following Astroworld deaths

A Change.org petition is calling for Travis Scott to be removed from this year’s Coachella lineup in the wake of the tragedy that left eight people dead at his Astroworld Festival last week.

More than 16,900 people have signed the petition, which is addressed to Coachella’s official organizers, AEG, Paul Tollet and Goldenvoice. It notes that the desire to see Scott removed from the performer lineup is in direct response to the “tragic and unnecessary death” that occurred when a crowd surged at Scott’s concert and crushed many who were in attendance, resulting in hundreds of injuries.

The petition’s organizer, Sendero Secreto, blames the loss of life on “Scott’s own gross negligence and sheer lack of compassion.”

Scott has previously defended himself against the backlash, noting that he was completely unaware of how dire the situation was for his fans while he performed on stage. His longtime girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, also noted that neither he nor she could comprehend how bad things were in the crowd from on or backstage.

Regardless, many, including Houston Fire Chief Samuel Pena, have criticized the rapper for not stopping his show immediately or helping to keep control of the crowd.

Calls for Astroworld Festival independent investigation mount as questions remain unanswered

A prominent elected official in Houston, Tx. is calling for an independent investigation to take place regarding the deaths at Travis Scott's Astroworld Festival on Nov. 5.

County Judge Lina Hidalgo, Harris County’s top elected official, previously took to Twitter to call for an independent investigation to happen outside of what the Houston Police Department is already doing. The Associated Press notes that Hidalgo does not have control over the police investigation but it is within her power to call for an independent one. Hidalgo hasn't decided who would conduct such an independent review or how it would be done, a spokesperson told The Associated Press Monday.

The spokesperson notes that Hidalgo is interested in getting to the bottom of what caused this tragedy. However, she is open to learning that the deaths at Astroworld were not preventable and that this was simply an unexpected tragedy.

"That’s something we would like to know, as well," the spokesperson said.

Houston Fire Chief says Travis Scott should have paused Astroworld Festival performance

Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña appeared on the "Today" show Tuesday where he updated the public on the investigation into the deaths at Travis Scott's Astroworld Festival.

Peña was previously quoted in the New York Times saying that it is his opinion that Scott should have paused the show as soon as it became clear ambulances were responding to the scene. He doubled down on those claims during his latest interview.

"Look we all have a responsibility, everybody at that event has a responsibility, starting with the artist on down," he said.

The Fire Chief noted that it is merely his opinion that "the artist has control of the crowd" and that the official investigation will determine any culpability. He did note, however, that he does not believe Scott's conduct on-stage led to the deadly crowd surge. However, he believes the rapper could have been more instrumental in helping first responders and security regain control.

If that artist knows something is going on, he can certainly pause the performance, turn on the lights and say, 'hey, we’re not going to continue until this is resolved."
