Want to be sure to make heads turn the next time you have to get dressed up? Show a little skin in the right places. That’s exactly what Taylor Swift did this week. Giving her signature high-waisted shorts a break, the 23-year-old rocked a cutout dress at the 38th Annual Toronto Film Festival. With a braided ponytail and strappy stilettos, Swift showed off her statuesque figure in Calvin Klein couture. READ: Ladies, Start Your Crunches: Crop Tops Are Sticking Around for Spring One stylist says the cutout trend has stuck around for several years because it allows you to show off a bit of skin without revealing too much. “This style has become popular (over the years) because it’s a classy way to show a little skin without going the traditional cleavage or thigh-high route,” explains fashion expert Hilary Kennedy. “It’s flattering on most body types when the cutouts are strategically placed at the most attractive angles. Women love a new way to show off their body without feeling like they’re revealing too much, and the cutout dress is the way to do it.” While this tricky staple may be difficult to pull off if you aren’t as tall and lean as Swift, Kennedy says it can be done if the cutout portion of the dress doesn’t accentuate the parts you don’t want to reveal.
