It might be the dumbest app of all time, but it sure seems like it could be a lot of fun.
Norwegian developers Carrot Pop recently released an Android app called S.M.T.H. ("Send Me to Heaven"), which seamlessly combines the thrill of friendly competition with the harrowing stupidity of a "Jackass" film. As described by the developers on their official website, the object of S.M.T.H. is to throw your phone as high as possible and catch it before it slams into the ground. Your device's internal accelerometer measures the height of your toss, then uploads it to a worldwide database for comparison against other players.
That's it. That's the whole game.
Naturally, Carrot Pop's website offers precautionary measures for avoiding damage or injury while playing their "sports game," along with a disclaimer absolving them of any responsibility should damage or injury occur.
It's also worth noting that S.M.T.H. is only available on Android devices, because Apple has declined to offer the app on theirs.
