Get a Fresh-Faced Look with Nude Makeup

Sometimes you just need to go nude — when it comes to your makeup, that is. A fresh-faced Jennifer Lawrence recently sparked headlines when she attended the New York City premiere of “The Great Gatsby,” wearing barely-there makeup.   She may have just been going to the movies, but she is one of many celebs who have recently embraced this laid-back look. WATCH: Brighten Your Face with the Right Blush “The reason Jennifer Lawrence’s raw beauty look was such an aesthetic fresh breath of air was that it stands in stark contrast to the overdone celebrity looks of the day, which are almost monster-esque in their heaps of piled-on rainbow makeup,” explains Constance Dunn, author of “Practical Glamour.” “Over the top looks camouflage the wearer,” adds Dunn. “Contrast this with the undressed look of Lawrence, whose carefully-crafted face reveals female beauty, boldly unmasked.” While not everyone has Lawrence’s smooth skin, creating a clean look is simple with just a few products. • Moisturize
When it comes to getting this fresh look, it’s crucial to make your face look dewy, not oily.  “Ditch your foundation and try using a touch of illuminating moisturizer on the apples of the cheeks and on the bridge of the nose like MAC Strobe Cream,” explains MAC Cosmetics senior artist John Stapleton. Moisturizer will also prevent your skin from becoming dry, which can age your natural features.

  • Conceal
Only use concealer in a shade close to your natural skin color to hide any blemishes and dark circles under the eyes.

  • Forget Foundation
Toss aside gunky foundation and replace it with a lighter product. “BB cream is the simplest and most current way to have a natural look without the heavy effect of a typical liquid or powder foundation,” says style and entertainment expert Hilary Kennedy. “Tarte and Smashbox both make excellent BB creams for all skin shades that have long-wear and look creamy. Apply with your fingers or a damp cosmetic sponge for a light touch.” If you’re using BB cream, you can skip on the moisturizer.

  • Blush
“Dusting a glowy blush or bronzer on the apples of the cheeks will enhance the natural flush,” says Stapleton. “Try something with a frost in it to illuminate the cheeks." Can’t tell which color is right for you? “Pinch the back of your hand and look at the color the skin turns,” suggests Kennedy. “That is the color you should lightly wear on your cheeks.”

  • Eyes
Dark eyeliner is great for a sultry smoky eye, but it also defeats the purpose of a more casual, natural look. Kennedy advises to use eyeliner in chestnut brown or golden cooper for a younger, brighter illusion. If you want to wear eyeshadow for nighttime, forget bold, trendy hues. “For subtle eyes, choose an eyeshadow that is two shades darker than your skin tone,” says Stapleton. “Blend it through the crease of your eye for added definition. Use a matte or satin textured shadow.”

  • Lashes
To add definition to the lash line, Stapleton recommends applying a coat of mascara on the upper and lower lashes. Instead of black, try a brown shade for a more natural effect.

  • Brows
A flawless face with messy brows just won’t do. Instead, make sure your eyebrows are perfectly groomed according to your face shape and keep them filled. Brush them with a clear, flake-proof brow gel to make them full and youthful-looking.

  • Lips
“Lips should have a light flush that is similar in color to your blush,” explains Kennedy. “If using lip liner, use a lighter than normal color to add definition and fill in the lip with a coat or two of color. Spice Liner by MAC is a cult favorite by makeup artists.” Top your lips with a tinted lip balm or a clear gloss.
