Young woman battling cystic fibrosis gets two life-changing surprises

For more than two years, Ashley Campbell, 22, has been battling cystic fibrosis. But earlier this week, everything changed for the young woman, My Fox Dallas-Fort Worth reported.
After suffering a devastating setback, Campbell traveled from her hometown of West Virginia in March so she could receive treatment at the Cleveland Clinic. Doctors put her on a ventilator, and her health was touch-and-go for a while.
Campbell’s boyfriend, 20-year-old Ryan Denkenberger stayed by her side through it all. The two met on Facebook through a friend in 2013.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}When Campbell was in stable condition, Denkenberger got down on one knee and proposed.
She said yes.
Hours later, Campbell got another surprise: She finally got a match for donor lungs.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The couple has not set a wedding date yet, but Campbell said she hopes to pursue nursing.
According to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, an estimated 30,000 children and adults in the U.S. have the life-threatening genetic disease, which primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. Campbell’s right lung collapsed when she was 15 and she now has only about three-quarters of her lung left, according to her GiveForward fundraising page.
